Elizabeth Henkel Ulrey

1919 - 2022

Betty had a lifelong interest in art and design. She began drawing at age three and won her first prize with a watercolor at age six. She began oil painting in college. Her painting style evolved over the years as a never-ending quest for improvement. She painted for over 90 years.

She earned her Bachelor's of Design from the University of Michigan and continued to study painting for the rest of her life.  She studied with many teachers, including the renowned Edward Loper. Her paintings have been on display frequently in galleries and shows near her home in Wilmington, DE.

About This Website

This has been put together by members of Betty's family. It lacks the style, flair, quality, and composition befitting her art, but we did our best. The photos were taken by amateurs with skills to match. Most have been cropped further than we would have liked. Those of you who have seen her work in person can surely attest to the fact that we have not accurately captured its color or beauty, but hopefully it is enough to give an impression.
