Comin' down the mountain!!
Downstream Deep Creek - not much cliff diving here, but some excellent hot springs! There IS some supreme cliffs upstream around Lake Arrowhead though. Aztec rock is one of the best spots. This is just North of Yosemite Creek Campground.
blurry air!
There are some great swimming holes on Tar Creek! The water-sculpted rocks are divinely beautiful. You must go on a warm day in the Spring though. It gets really gunky here in the summer. Go before June, the earlier the better. I've never been here in the Winter, but i'd love to see a river raging through this place sometime. Based on the high-water marks, this place sees some serious flow early in the year.
There are a series of pools that cascade one into the next. In the shot above, you can barely see the top fall into the biggest of the pools. The top two pools are great for jumping into. Both of those top 2 waterfalls are great for sliding down too.
This is the upper fall into the big pool.
Triple jump. Paul, Shawn, and Scott take to the air. 2 guys are going into the top pool and diving into the 2nd pool.
half-turn into the same pool. Notice how much less water is going over this fall compared with the shot above. It is only 3 weeks later, yep, this place dries up early!Going off the big one! About 1/2 mile downstream from the big pool above, you come to this massive drop-off. It's tricky because you've got a serious clearance problem with the out-cropping at the bottom. The pool is huge and deep, but you really have to get a good leap outwards. Believe it or not, this is actually a foot-first jump! For the grand finale of my cliff jumping web site, see the video and crank up the volume!
